Career & Training
Dr. Ramirez-Moya completed her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship while pregnant with her son, driven by a deep commitment to understanding developmental disabilities and autism. During her fellowship, she trained at the University of New Mexico’s Center for Development and Disability Pediatrics, focusing on early diagnosis and intervention.
Two years after completing her training, her son was diagnosed with autism and a rare genetic condition. This personal journey has since fueled her professional dedication to advocating for and supporting the developmental disability community. As both a mother and physician, Dr. Ramirez-Moya brings a unique and empathetic perspective to the challenges families face navigating insurance, education systems, and access to community resources.
In her clinical practice, she specializes in the psychiatric care of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, particularly those who may respond differently to psychopharmacology. Dr. Ramirez-Moya collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, neurologists, case managers, and school personnel, to ensure comprehensive care.
She is especially passionate about serving Hispanic and bilingual families, helping children who are coping with mental health concerns and the complexities of cultural adaptation.
